Smelling like chlorine all over again

My children started swimming when they were around 5 years old. I heard of a swim team in Brookfield that if your child could swim from one side of the pool to the other, they would make the team. Kristin and Kelly dog paddled the whole way and became the new recruits of the Elmbrook swim team. Through the years the kids continued to swim on different teams in Illinois. After many years of smelling like chlorine and watching stroke techniques I had this reoccurring dream of swimming laps in a pool.
When we moved to Nevada, Tim started to go to the lap pool and do some laps. I went once and hated it. This year we moved into a complex that has a lap pool. I started swimming. I can't believe how hard it is to do one lap. I thought my lungs were going to burst, but I kept on going. Thanks to all the stroke clinics I watched in Rockford, my freestyle and back stroke look pretty good. My breast stroke needs a little help, Where is Mark Dowdakin when you need him.... Oh, and forget the butterfly. This body just doesn't bend like that anymore.

It has been around 5 weeks and I have been swimming around three times a week. I no longer get tired and now get a high when I'm the first one in the pool. The water is smooth as glass and as I slide into the pool and start the breast stroke, my stokes make the first waves in the pool. The sky is blue and the water warm and I go back and forth enjoying the experience. I no longer dream about swimming laps, I'm actually doing it and loving it.
