Rain in the Valley - Snow storm in the Mountains

We received over 0.62 inches of rain yesterday. That is the second time since October 2005 that at least a half an inch fell in one day.

Friday's storm dumped as much as 10 inches of snow on Mount Charleston's higher elevations making it a winter wonderland. Of course local Las Vegans were anxious to see the first snow so they piled in their cars and headed up the mountain only to forget that driving on ice and snow requires some special driving skills. Throughout the valley and into the high elevations the city had their share of driving accidents. Luckily no one was seriously hurt.

It is nice to know that if we ever miss the snowstorms of Wisconsin we can alway head up the mountain (45 minute drive) and play in the snow.

Here is a picture of Tim and Jimmer last November when he came for a visit. He wanted to see Mount Charleston and Kyle Canyon. On this day it was nice and sunny in the Valley while Mount Charleston was just getting hit with a big snowstorm.
