Nevada Silverman

On November 11, 2007, the City of Henderson will host the 3rd annual Nevada Silverman. Branded as the toughest course in North America, the Nevada Silverman attracts individuals and relay teams from around the world ( is this why it is not an Ironman because it has relays). Featuring a 2.4 mile swim in Lake Mead, a 112 mile bike ride with over 9,700 feet climbing, and a 26.2 mile run that boasts an additional 2,000 ft elevation gain, the Silverman is the race that sets triathletes apart from the mainstream. You've had Iron. Are you ready for Silver?

The Silverman offers breathtaking views over vast expanses of desert terrain, tremendous athlete support on course (4:1 volunteer ratio and "buffet-style" aid stations in 2005), an abundance of shopping, dining and entertainment for your friends and family, and hey, it's Vegas baby, so you can guarantee there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate your finish! Hey maybe all you Wisconsin Ironman may want to try this next year......

The race will start around 6:30 in the morning at Lake Mead. The bikes will then leave there and head to the transition area which is right across the street from us. From there the runners will be running all around our neighborhood. What a great event for us to walk out our front door and be able to watch and cheer on these athletes at this grueling event. We have watched and heard the familiar saying "You are an Ironman" after Kristin and Kelly have crossed the finish line. Will we now hear, "You are a Silverman?" We'll let you know how the event compares to the Wisconsin Ironman. Luckily I have my special red "Kristin Ironman" shirt here that Karen made. I'll be wearing it on Sunday.
