Strange Wisconsin weather for January

A couple of tornadoes touched down south of Milwaukee, uprooting trees and knocking out power to thousands of people. Thirty homes were destroyed and over 100 homes damaged. Milwaukee reached a temperature of 63 degres which smashed the old temperature record of 47 degrees set in 2003.

With 63 degree weather, all the snow that fell in December must be gone! Wouldn't it be nice now to coast through the rest of winter with no more snow.....

The beauty of a Wisconsin winter day

I miss the beauty of Wisconsin winters. While we were home we were lucky to have experienced a snow storm that left around 7 inches of snow. Milwaukee has been hit with a lot of snow so far this winter so I'm sure the people who have had to experience all the snow shoveling and driving in the snow and ice don't share my excitement of seeing this beautiful day.

For the most part I use to love the winter. Since I didn't have yard work to do I had extra time to sew and quilt. I would love to lock my self in my room surrounded by all my fabric, books and my sewing machine. Some days I would sit in a chair with a quilt to keep me warm and read a good book.
